No Way! We were in town during the Sugar bowl. Stay closer to the French Quarter, or out in the suburbs. This hotel is in a residential neighborhood, not close to anything. If you're thinking of riding the Trolley on St, Charles - good luck. It's crowded and stops way too often. The hotel is overpriced, dated, dirty and the rooms are too small. You have to step outside your room to change your mind.
I'm a Diamond Hilton member and I travel for business too. Since COVID 80% of the hotels I used to stay in have cleanliness issues. I'm talking other peoples hair in the bathroom and bedding, stains in the tub, faulty showerheads and mold in the bathroom caulk. This bathroom was tiny, gross and checks all the other boxes too.
Then there's breakfast. Mrs. Molasses that runs the food service and her merry elves are incompetent. I realize things were busy with the Sugar bowl in town, but they knew all this in advance and still couldn't figure out the inventory and workflow. Duh. They ran out of food every morning we were there and it took 20 min to re-supply. Then you'd get biscuits, but no gravy, eggs, but no OJ - one morning the biscuits were frozen in the middle, etc...
What happens for Mardi Gras? There will be 10 times the people in town for that event, over the Sugar Bowl. This can't be their first rodeo!
I realize the service industry continues to suffer from labor shortages since COVID; however, there are hotels (Hilton, Marriott, etc...) out there that succeed at providing awesome customer service. This isn't one of them!
The hotel is in such a nice location for visiting New Orleans. Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but close enough for a quick drive. Easy and cheaper parking than many other hotels in the area. The staff is so friendly! The rooms are cleaned very well and the bath tubs are huge. Complimentary breakfast is always a win when you’re in a hurry out the door in the mornings. Highly recommend staying at this Hampton inn.
We really enjoyed our 6 day stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is in a safe area and the location is great with the St. Charles streetcar just across the street. The facility is well maintained, clean, and well laid out with easy access to parking in the back. The complimentary breakfast has something available for everyone and fully stocked during the breakfast hours. We upgraded to a king suite and had a spacious room that faced St. Charles Ave. Even though there is a lot of traffic and the street car regularly runs by, it was quiet. This was a nice retreat after a day of touring.
This is not a fancy hotel with valet parking or a hotel bar. Still, it is a nice, clean, and usually quiet hotel, conveniently located in the Garden District with direct access to the St. Charles green line street car, allowing for easy access to the other areas of New Orleans. We've stayed at this location in the past; however, this stay was brutal. On our first night, we lost power for about an hour. Thankfully it was quickly restored because it was hot as Hades. Around 3:15 am, the alarm in the adjoining room started to sound and continued until 5 am. We finally thought there was no way someone was asleep there; the alarm must have reset from the early power outage. We called the front desk for assistance. They sent someone up, who proceeded to bang on the door. The alarm sounded again at 5:30 but was quickly turned off. Apparently, someone was staying in the adjoining room. At breakfast, I asked the front desk if we could be relocated because we were staying an additional three nights. The gentleman at the front desk said yes, but people were still checking out/rooms were still being cleaned. He said he would leave a note for the evening staff. When we returned for the day, they'd take care of getting us a new room. However, when we arrived later that afternoon, no note was left, and the hotel was fully booked with nowhere to move us. The evening staff said they would talk to the manager and see about comping us parking or something of that nature. They would call me. They also assured me they spoke with the individual next door, and it wouldn't happen again. Well, needless to say, we spent the next three sleepless nights, waking at 3:00 am with an alarm sounding every 15 minutes until 6:15 am. I feel the staff placated me with no intention of addressing our concerns. We never heard from the staff or the manager.
Very good HI, mainly due to location on St Charles. Basic place, gets the job done, but a bit dated. Nice pool helps on hot NOLA days after a full day. U can't get any closer to streetcar, and easy walk around garden district and Magazine St.
The room was in poor condition. Chipped furniture, torn lamp shade. Definitely Mardi Gras damage rooms. There is no room maid service unless you specifically request it, they don't tell you that. At $300 per night (we stayed 2 nights) plus $20 per night for parking we will not be staying here again.
This was our first time to New Orleans and this motel made it a fabulous time. We were there for a celebration of life and a bunch of family and friends stayed here. Rooms were clean, pool was clean, location was GREAT with the street car stopping right out front and a nice hot breakfast every morning. The staff were very friendly.
Been there 3 times already, for two weeks and going for the next one. Always very polite and helpful. Rooms are very comfortable, clean, and the breakfast is ok.
